SPARCstation 5-compatible VME64 Engine. 110 MHz microSPARC II VME64 Engine Simple Type: CPU Board
The SPARC 5/64 combines the high performance of the microSPARC II processor with a high-speed VME64 interface. Its design the result of a technology relationship with Sun Microsystems, the SPARC 5/64 is a faithful VMEbus version of Sun's SPARCstation 5 workstation. With double the bus bandwidth of VME32 platforms, the SPARC 5/64's 64-bit wide data path provides a significant increase in I/O performance. Full VME64 compatibility is provided by Newbridge Microsystems's Single Chip VMEbus (SCV64) controller which helps the SPARC 5/64 achieve VME data rates up to 40 Mbytes/sec.
